Horizontal FM

I have been thinking of starting Calling CQ on horizontal fm as the scope for making distance contacts on a lower power is better by far than using vertical polarization. One of the reasons for this is that horizontal polarization will cut through the clutter left by vertical antennas. Although there will be less people using this mode, after time I feel it would become more and more popular.

The good thing is you do not have to spend a lot of money buying beams an such. A simple dipole placed horizontal will suffice. Now a dipole will radiate mostly from sides of the wire. This is not tip to tip. So lets say you want to radiate north to south. you will place one end  to the west and the other to the east job done.

I will list skeds for this mode in the near future.

Update: I have taken down my 2mtr beam for a while to enjoy other modes. I will in the near future put another 2mtr beam back up but it maybe somewhat smaller.

I will keep you informed as to when I replace the antenna.
