This is me M3ULT
I try to be as efficient as I can be on all bands and modes including D-Star via the dongle. I especially enjoy 2 mtr SSB and I am lucky to have various antenna's for just that mode. I have a 15 ele Yagi by cushcraft in use at the moment. I prefer to use the lowest of power on all contacts. Mostly 0.5 watt which due to the gain on my antenna gives an E.R.P. figure of 16 watts before coaxial losses. The true figure will be nearer 10 watts total output for 0.5 watts in.
I am always monitoring 144.300mhz usb and I use the Yaesu FT 817 with this antenna.
I also use 4 mtr FM with my AKD 4001 and my antenna for this mode is a Sirio base antenna in vertical polarity. This is a very underated band and little used by most amateurs today.
I also operate 2mtr, 70cm, and 6m (Vertical) using my moonraker tri-band vertical antenna sitting about 50ft asl. The radio is my Yaesu FT 8900 Quad bander.
A very nice radio indeed.
My PSK, RTTY and other modes are controled through my computer and my ZLP interface, which is in turn connected to my Yaesu FT 897 all mode radio. This was my first radio owned after I passed my licence and will always be a keeper. This radio also does my 6mtrs contacts through a 2,4,and 6mtr moxon antenna.
My HF side is controled by a Icom Pro 3 with the standard hand microphone and a converted g5rv for low band work with a MQ26 by TGM minibeam for 20 mtrs upwards. The Icom is a fantastic radio and works very well. This radio replaces my old Kenwood TS 850 which sadly lost its front end due to EMP from a nearby Strike of lightening.
The DV Dongle does my D-Star work. It just connects into the side of the computer and away you go. See my comparison between Dongle and radio here.
I am become very active on 20 meters lately and you can normally find me anywhere from 14.220 to 14.260. I will most likely have a friend or 2 with me on the frequency, namely "M0FCG" Mick from Hoyland who will be testing the newly made 6 band Hexbeam and or "M6MDG" Dave from New Lodge using a vertical antenna from the Snowdonia antenna company.
I will as usual be on my 20m monoband Moxon rectangle at abt 20ft of ground level.
